Lavender Place provides seven adult inpatient beds for men and women between the age of 18-65 who are deaf and experience severe and enduring mental health problems. These patients may be detained under the 1983 Mental Health Act. The unit is fully adapted for the needs of these patients and is a signing environment. The physical environment offers a balance between the need for patient privacy and the provision of safe and effective inpatient care. There is full access to an adjacent patio and a garden.
All patients are encouraged to respond to an open environment with an emphasis on utilising individual strengths and abilities and active rehabilitation, incorporating a patient centred approach.
